my uniform is bigga dan urs.

die-hard fans of aws[african writers' series ] have already clicked 'search' in their brain's memory dump as to where dis title comes from - yes, nkem nwankwo's mercedes is bigger than yours.  so permit my use of this term.

it happened this morning along the osborne-kingsway road stretch at ikoyi, lagos.  i was not a witness but a colleague who happened to be both eye/ear witness relayed it to us .  someserving  army general was in his car making a call, this lastma guy flagged him down and as is their practice, opened the guy's car and entered.  that one continued talking on his phone until they got to that nnpc/ikoyi club road/eti-osa intersection.  our brass finished his call and  then asked bobo lastma what he was doing in his car.  dat one responded dat he was arresting him for talking while driving.  he then asked him to get out of his car but of course he refused.   

d general now brought out a gun and threatened him with it. in typical 9ja fashion, he started slapping and beating the Lastma guy who jumped out of his car and 'oga soja' followed and continued beating the lastman guy. after he had driven off, our runaway lastman guy now came back and the traffic warden was now asking him if he did not know the man.  dat one answered in the negative.  traffic warden quickly told him that that is a serving general and is known to always show himself especially along that route. agreed the lastman men could go overboard at times, but each time i see them work at accident scenes, i am quick to forgive all other sins.  


now, who protects the lastma guy?  i saw one the other day at university junction being beaten and dragged into a keke napep by area boys. he kept protesting and trying to extricate himself but imagine the puny guy against about 10 of those ruffians! i wondered what happened to his mate because they usually work in pairs. i asked and heard that there's an unwritten war going on between they and the area boys.


end of story is are uniforms not supposed to carry the same weight?  that u are military and i am para, does it mean less regard for mine?  we were brought up to believe that the messenger is a representative of his oga. you accord him the due you would have his oga. so also the uniform is a representative of the government.  it is bad enough that civilians make mockery of uniforms but a uniformed personnel? there is strength in discipline. grace simply means power under control.  


moi simply wonders why our uniformed personnel are so quick to go for each others' jugulars each time.  could it be a case of a mother who has been offended by daddy but becos her hand no fit reach him now takes out her grievance on the next child who makes a little mistake just to spite oga and send a message to him?

guess by now u hv seen d switch a future adverts being run in d papers by d FREEDOM FOUNDATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INTERSWITCH.    yes, same one where different artistes are made over to look like d dey wud hv before grace found, picked and polished them.

i hv seen Kelechi amadi-obi, zizi cardow, joke silva, basketmouth so far.  still recall dat d 1st one i saw was joke and remember arguing with a colleague that it wasnt her.  d colleague insisted it was and it wasnt until i started seeing d others be4 i realised it.  did u c zizi's [the boli woman?] kelechi's [the drug addict? or basketmouth's? 

 those pictures shd be enough to humble anybody! they depict where any of those people could have been today save for d grace of God. 

where precisely along life's ladder are u?  how far up or down are u?  do u think u hv come dis far of your own making, intelligence, skills, beauty, street-smartness, connections??? do u think u are who/where u are 2day because u hv earned it?  beloved there is nothing u hv that u have earned so better drop that entitlement mentality! 

4 you who hv bn found by grace, be grateful and humble and remain grateful/humble  while neva 4gettn dat there but 4 d grace of god go you!  4 u who is still tryn 2 crack your kernels, keep hope alive knowing dat he is the god of the whole universe, nothing is 2 difficult for him, he changes times/seasons, he doeth dat which pleaseth him, he answereth to no man, reports to no one [meaning, he does not take permission from any to favor you].

inasmuchas grace is free, we also have our part to play.  if i ask him for wealth and he gives me ideas then that is an answered prayer becos when i run with dat tool of idea then i can turn it to resources which ultimately leads to wealth.  if however he gives me ideas and i hid it under my bed while still awaiting money from nowhere, how then can i generate wealth?  it also goes without saying that some of us are simply 2 lazy/scared to run with our ideas. the fear of leaving d 'comfort zone' is not restricted to u alone but 2 all humans. d diff btw u and 'dat person' is simply becos they dared to run with their ideas. they dared to jump out of their comfort zones. okay fine, agreed, some of them were pushed out of their comfort zones by life and thereby helpn dem launch out into their deep. but truth still remains that u got ur part to play. 

the promise of wutever ur hand finds 2 do will i bless is 2-fold.  d man-part 1st be4 d god-part. d god-part of increase cannot work unless the man part of 'do' has bn activated. i mean wut is he going to bless?    d yr is still young though 1st qtr is almost gone.  tune in2 his frequency and listen 4 sound counsel.  when u get it activate by keyn in2 it. if u already hv received bt it's still gathering dust under ur bed, pick it up, dust it and run with it, if u hv boldly taken d tentative uncertain steps den u r on d right part.  rememba all datz required of u is TO DO and then HE WOULD DO.
